  The Investigation
Session one – Vigil in North isle pews

The team spread themselves out seated around the pews in the North isle, listening and calling aloud for responses that could be recorded.

Session two - Vigil in Chancel

Some time was spent seated between the two choir stalls, again calling aloud for activity that could be recorded.

Session three – Séance in Chancel

Ian, Kim, Dave and Graham conducted a séance whilst Paddy sat out to be mobile and investigate anything that occurred around us.

Session four - Return to the north isle pews

As before we seated around the pews in the North isle, listening and calling aloud for responses.
Results
Session one – Vigil in North isle pews

A tap is heard five minutes into this session, some said from the altar area some said thought was from the rear. Ten Minutes in a dull thump was heard by all from the rear of the church. Dave sees a light in one of the pews and investigates. A short while later Dave and Graham feel cold. Dave had been asking for activity, Ian had a go and this, this was met by a couple of light thumps from somewhere in the building. Ian, Graham and Kim then heard the sound of movement in front of them. Nearly and hour passes with nothing further to report so the session is stopped.

Session two. - Vigil in Chancel

The sound of movement could be heard again but the location not identified. Ian sat with Kim, their backs to the north side choir pews. Ian felt uncomfortable and moves forward in his chair for some reason. Shortly after this Dave thinks he saw the image of a woman sitting in the choir stall behind and between Ian and Kim. Ian and Kim both think they heard a shuffle behind them, and a whistle. Dave tried to question the individual to get a response, there was none. Kim began coughing. Ian volunteered to move behind and sit in the choir stall close to where Dave thought he saw the person seated. He then moved Kim's voice recorder along the stall so to be in front of where this person was sitting, pointed out its function then proceeded to ask questions and conduct an EVP experiment, Dave also continued the questions prompting for a response.
Ian said he could see movement in the shadows next to him in the pew, a distortion of light and dark.

Ian lifted his left hand up, palm out and to push it further forward where this image was seen, he described a sensation of coldness and pins and needles when there was none before, and could feel a pressure pushing against his hand.

Paddy, seated nearby also described a similar sensation of tingling on the back of his hand. Ian, still seated in the choir stall suggested Dave or Graham swapped seats with Paddy to see if the same could be felt. Graham swapped with Paddy and then described the same sensation as felt by Ian and Paddy.

Some lights were seen in the church and these were identified as headlights from an approaching car so the session had to be suspended.

Session three - Séance in Chance
l

The séance produced no recordable results.

Session four - Return to the north isle pews

A noise was heard forward of the group by the altar. As Dave spoke asking for a louder repeat a noise came from behind towards the rear of the church. Kim said the pew she was sitting on felt as though it moved as someone had also sat on it, but nothing could be seen. Graham thought he saw a series of flashing lights up by the altar. Not a lot happened for a while till there was a loud metallic tap was heard. Nothing else occurred for some considerable time so due the late hour of the morning it was decided to end the investigation.

Conclusions
Session one – Vigil in North isle pews

Noises heard during this session were random, not repeated upon request and only a few are audible on our recordings, it is highly likely these were naturally occurring. The sound of movement heard could well have been a small rodent although none were seen. There are bats in the church and this explanation cannot be discounted. The light seen by Dave in the pews was investigated at the time and no apparent explanation could be found, this was not recorded on camcorder so we cannot analyse this further so cannot offer any conclusion or further explanation. Feelings of coldness may well have been genuine as it is a cold place.

Session two - Vigil in Chancel

More movement was heard but this could have the same explanation as always mentioned. It is interesting that Ian moved as something behind him made him feel uncomfortable at the same time Dave though he saw a figure behind him. The EVP experiment conducted as a result provided no results. What Ian saw in the shadows of the pews may well have been the effect of tired eyes and the tricks played by light and shadow. The feelings he felt through his hand may well have been brought on by anticipation, anxiety or even nerves, but we will never know. The fact that both Paddy and Graham felt the same sensations in the same vicinity may well be the result of auto-suggestion, or the same feelings of anticipation, anxiety and nerves. None of our audio or camcorder recordings can add anything further to these events.

Session three - Séance in Chancel

With no recorded results no conclusions can be offered.

Session four - Return to the north isle pews

Again a few noises seemed to start happening, this was interesting as there were none during the session before. The team began to find it difficult to locate the area from there the noises came. Again none of the noises were repeated. Flashing lights seen by the altar were not recorded and so cannot be investigated further. That Kim felt the pew she was seated in move as though someone else had sat in it is interesting, but unfortunately we have only her account of this as evidence as nothing was recorded to substantiate this. We cannot offer any explanation or conclusion regarding this.

A good night was had by all and we enjoyed showing this place to Graham.
