Undisclosed 14th Manor House - Kent

Aim:
A return to one of our favourite venues with the hope of again witnessing some paranormal phenomena and to record evidence of possible paranormal activity.

Parts of this building date back to the fourteenth century originally a medieval hall house many original features remain including the great hall itself. Never investigated until we chanced across it some years ago this venue has given us some great results but less so in recent visits, so we are always hopeful that the next visit will be the night it all happens.

  The Investigation
  Method:
Using our normal visual and scientific methods combined with spiritual theory, we adopted a more relaxed approach. We find that a lot of things can occur during breaks or when we are not actively on a vigil. For this reason we spent more time simply sitting about chatting but still paying attention to whatever occurred around us, if anything did we would immediately investigate this further.

Session 1: Medieval kitchen
A standard vigil, sitting taking in the ambient noises before settling down to calling aloud asking for signs of activity.

Session 2: Medieval kitchen – séance
We decided that, given the results during the previous session we would return to the kitchen for a séance, to see if this provoked greater responses that could be recorded. Ian, Dave and Kim took part with Paddy roaming and investigating anything that occurred.

Session 3: Medieval kitchen
Given the results of the first session more so than the second we decided to spend the rest of the investigation in the same place. This time we opted to return to conducting a vigil.

Results
Session 1: Medieval kitchen
Two and half minutes in we were having a laugh settling down to start when there was a noise from the corridor outside the room. This snapped us into focus sharply.
Despite continuing jollity, which is never a bad thing, Ian and Paddy then heard a noise in the room, this was thought to have been in the area of the fire place where there used to be an Arga.

A tap is heard from the locked room opposite the kitchen.

As Ian began calling out Paddy noted something fly though his range of vision, possibly a bat, and noted it for the purpose of the video footage. The team discuss how dark it is and Kim says she doesn't feel comfortable in the room.

A noise is heard from the corridor, the stairs in the corridor or the room opposite, it was difficult to distinguish. Paddy described it as what sounded like a pebble or stone bouncing down the stairs.

After a fair few minutes another similar sound is heard after Dave requested a repeat this was quickly followed by a third. Paddy said it was continuing and suggested moving out into the corridor but we decided not to as in the past moving to an area of activity had frequently caused it to stop. Ian moved his camcorder nearer to the doorway, then removes it from the tripod and changes to hand held.

A loud noise is heard from the stair area outside the kitchen, this is repeated as Dave and Kim comment on seeing a whisp of material float passed their eyes. Dave finally decides we needed to identify these noises better and moves to the doorway opposite to observe the area from outside the room.

Dave calls out for a repeat and he hears another noise from the stairs. This is followed by the chair he was previously using in the kitchen creaking followed soon after by a light anomaly moving across from the area of his chair towards Kim. This anomaly was not witnessed at the time but later found on the camcorder footage.

Nothing happened after this, and it was interesting that the noises stopped so abruptly when Dave went out there. So after a while Dave returned into the room, no soon as he had done so the noises outside the room started again.

More noises continued to be heard both outside and inside the room, Dave's chair moved again.

Paddy investigated a source for the noises out in the corridor and as he did so he heard a movement between him and the staircase, Dave went out to assist. The noises persisted, the questioning persisted and the amount of noises grew both inside and outside the room. Kim and Ian remained in the kitchen.

Dave, now stood in the hall outside the kitchen could still hear the occasional noise on the floor and stairs.

Dave sees a small short dark shadow move passed from the kitchen out into the hallway in front of him.

Paddy moves out to the hallway again, during his and Dave's questioning more noises are in the their area and on the stairs.

After a period with no more occurrences to report we ended this very long vigil for a break.

Session 2: Medieval kitchen - Seance
No soon as we had sat down Paddy hears a strange guttural noise was heard followed by a tap in the room, we hadn't even started the séance.

Soon after an odd whine can be heard on the video footage, but not by the team at the time.

Despite calling out there is little or no noise heard.

After a while we decided this did not work and decided to close the séance and have a break.

Session 3: Medieval kitchen
Despite attempts at calling and provoking the same noises and responses as before nothing at all happened during this session.

Conclusions
The noises heard during this investigation were very interesting, some were recorded by our camcorder audio and some were not. It is interesting that first session seemed so “active” when in the second two there was virtually nothing. Although we feel some noises could be explained there were some that we could not and some that almost seemed responsive.

It is also worth noting that while the four of us were in the kitchen noises were prevalent and coming from the hallway and stairs, and that these stopped when Dave and Paddy went into that area. This point is enforced by the fact that they started again almost immediately after they returned to the room. Of course as is expected they eventually stopped as there were little or no noises heard for the remainder of the investigation, this is just as interesting because if naturally occurring why did they suddenly stop, start, and stop again? At this time we do feel that there was potentially a paranormal cause and intelligence behind some of these noises.

Although Paddy though it was a bat or similar in the room we cannot explain what he thought he saw fly across his line of vision, as at this moment no object was recorded doing so. It is interesting that both Dave and Kim also reported a similar occurrence but again they are in the camcorders shot and there is nothing seen to be travelling in front of them. We cannot explain any of these events.

The creaking chairs are something that has happened before, and although this first appears odd we believe the frames of these chairs were just settling after they had been vacated.

The light anomaly caught on the camcorder footage may well have been dust or an insect illuminated by the infra red immiters used by the team to film in darkness, although we do not have this happen too often there may well be a natural explanation for this.

The movement in the hallway behind Paddy and the associated noise cannot be examined further as he was out of camera shot and the incident was not recorded. We only have his testimony for this occurrence but also have no reason to dispute that this occurred.

The small movement of shadow witnessed by Dave was within camcorder shot and nothing was seen to be moving on the recording.

During our stay a certain amount of other information was forthcoming to the team of a clairvoyant nature. As Ghost Connections conducts scientifically based investigations we do not publish such observations, however, this information is held on a separate database and may prove interesting when compared to other peoples experiences. Should you wish to discuss this information please email us.

Thanks
