Conclusions:

Session one – Main Hallway and stairs

When checking the noises coming from the great hall our movement across the floor caused similar noises suggesting that the sounds heard previously could have been caused by persons unseen walking across the floor. It had been sometime since we had last been in the room and we do not believe we had given the floorboards need to settle, if we had they would already have done so prior to the first session starting.

It is interesting that when we left the room with the lights on the noises stopped, even more so for the reason stated above, but recommenced when the lights were off again. Possibly the cooling of the lights was a factor but we are aware of theses and have eliminated these from our findings as the noises heard were confirmed as coming from floor level. Some of the noises were attributed to the shutters across the windows at the far end of the room, this was checked and verified at the end of the session. During the following break the weather was checked and it was found that there was no wind to cause this, therefore, we have no explanation for why they were knocking, unless they were being interfered with. These and other noises heard were recorded and will be commented on further in this report.
